31.Safdarjung Airport

2009.10.11

Safdarjung Airport, named after the 2nd Nawab of Awadh, whose tomb resides nearby, is an airport in New Delhi, India.
It used to be known as Willingdon Airfield and served as Delhi's main airport until a new site was chosen in the south-western part of Delhi, today's Indira Gandhi International Airport.

It is still used for general aviation purposes and small propeller planes take off and land from the airport. However, planes are cautioned when landing, since the airport is situated right next to a flyover highway.

These are early morning shots taken around 5-30, while i was driving back home from hostel/hospital.
The flyover has amazing view for sunsets, but sadly, sunset time is a peak traffic hour and I have never dared to stop and take pictures. But one of these days..... (Praying traffic is lesser than d usual)

Unchained This airport seems to have not too much movement! At least not as in Mumbai! Cool shots!

atszabo It would be a very bad idea to park and shoot pictures in the middle of traffic there...Try and find another spot high up for those sunrise shots...
